Ayers Rock, one of the most famous Australian attractions, is the world's biggest natural monolith. It is considered to be a sacred site and named Uluru by Aboriginal population even if Kata Tjuta is the original aborigine name.

Uluru is located in the KataTjutaNational Park, about 450km southwest of Alice Springs, in the centre of the Australian desert.

It was formed and thrust upward from an inland sea of some 700 million years ago. Uluru has a circumference of some 10 km and is 350 meters high.

Tourists hike the monolith for 1.6km long way to the top, nevertheless, it disappoints aboriginal people because they consider this sedimentary formations a consecrated site.

Others prefer taking a walking tour around the rock, enjoying the beautiful red colours and all the different formations designed by the wind in the cliff, and it is interesting learning about its fascinating with the Uluru people and its importance in dreamtime legend.
